Yankees 4, Rays 3: Lyle Overbay lined a solo home run to the right-field seats with two outs in the top of the 11th inning as visiting New York beat Tampa Bay for the second straight day.

Ivan Nova (2-1) got out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the 10th to earn the win and Mariano Rivera struck out two in a perfect 11th for his 18th save in 18 opportunities. Pinch hitter Brennan Boesch’s check-swing RBI double and Brett Gardner’s RBI single, both with two outs, tied the game at 3 in the ninth as Tampa Bay closer Fernando Rodney blew his fifth save.

Evan Longoria had a pair of hits for the Rays, who have dropped four of their last five games. Josh Lueke (0-2) pitched a scoreless 10th before giving up Overbay’s eighth homer. Overbay has three go-ahead home runs in the seventh inning or later, tied with Atlanta's Evan Gattis for the most in the majors.

Gardner doubled to lead off the game and later scored on Travis Hafner’s two-out single as the Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Jose Molina doubled in the fifth and scored on Desmond Jennings’ two-out double into the left-field corner to tie the game at 1.

New York starter Vidal Nuno went six-plus innings, yielding two runs on five hits. James Loney singled to lead off the seventh and later came home on Kelly Johnson’s pinch-hit single before Matt Joyce, who had doubled, scored on a fielder’s choice to give the Rays a 3-1 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tampa Bay starter Matt Moore, tied for the major-league lead in wins with eight, allowed five hits and one run over six innings while throwing 104 pitches. … The Yankees placed OF Curtis Granderson on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured knuckle on his left pinky finger, suffered Friday when he was hit by a pitch, and recalled Boesch. … Rays LHP Jake McGee gave up his first hit in seven appearances, but has not allowed a run in that span.
