Giants 4, Brewers 2: Pinch-hitter Jeff Francoeur delivered a tiebreaking RBI single in the eighth inning as San Francisco won for only the second time in its last nine games at home.

Hunter Pence drew a leadoff walk from John Axford (5-5) in the eighth and stole second after Buster Posey flied out. Pence advanced to third on a wild pitch while Axford was walking Pablo Sandoval intentionally and scored two batters later when Francoeur delivered a broken-bat single to left field off Rob Wooten.

San Francisco added insurance runs as Sandoval and Brandon Belt scored on third baseman Jeff Bianchi's fielding error. Santiago Casilla (5-2) pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Sergio Romo allowed a solo home run by Juan Francisco in the ninth before notching his 27th save.

San Francisco's Chad Gaudin allowed one run, four hits and four walks while striking out eight in 6 1/3 innings, and is 3-0 with a 1.37 ERA in four starts following a Giants loss this season. Milwaukee's Tyler Thornburg allowed an unearned run and seven hits over six frames in his fifth major-league start.

The Giants took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, when Gregor Blanco hit a grounder to first baseman Francisco, whose throw to second sailed into left field, allowing Belt to score. After Jonathan Lucroy led off the seventh with a double, Francisco made amends three batters later with an RBI ground-rule double.
