Padres 2, Brewers 1:
Carlos Quentin homered and Edinson Volquez pitched seven shutout innings as host San Diego snapped Milwaukee’s nine-game winning streak.

Volquez (1-3) allowed five hits and didn’t walk anyone to help the Padres halt a five-game slide. San Diego also ended a streak of seven straight home losses.

Quentin belted his first home run of the season with one out in the fourth inning off Brewers starter Marco Estrada (2-1). Quentin sent a 1-0 pitch soaring up into the third level of the Western Metal Supply Co. building inside the left-field line.

San Diego tallied again in the fifth when Nick Hundley scored from first on a sacrifice bunt by Volquez. Third base was left unattended and Hundley took off toward the bag and a throw from second baseman Rickie Weeks eluded scrambling shortstop Jean Segura near third base as Hundley continued home to make it 2-0.

Milwaukee scored a run in the ninth on back-to-back doubles by Carlos Gomez and Yuniesky Betancourt. Huston Street wrapped up his third save when Martin Maldonado was called out for being out of the box when his tapper in front of the plate hit him in the right shoulder.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Quentin had two of San Diego’s five hits. … Weeks went 1-for-4 and is 5-for-58 over the past 15 games. … Estrada allowed two runs (one earned) and five hits in 6 1/3 innings for Milwaukee.
