Padres 7, Dodgers 2: Kyle Blanks, Everth Cabrera and Chris Denorfia hit solo home runs off Los Angeles ace Clayton Kershaw as visiting San Diego completed a three-game sweep.

Blanks also had a run-scoring single during the Padres’ three-run fourth inning. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Dodgers, who were outscored 22-7 in the series and dropped below .500.

Kershaw became the 13th pitcher in Dodgers history to reach 1,000 career strikeouts when he fanned Yonder Alonso in the second inning for his first of the night. Kershaw (2-2) finished with five strikeouts and gave up five runs (three earned) and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Los Angeles took a 1-0 lead on a third-inning sacrifice fly by Adrian Gonzalez before Cabrera tied the score in the fourth with his homer to left. Denorfia went deep in the fifth and Blanks hit a mammoth blast in the sixth to give the Padres a 5-1 advantage.

Mark Kotsay delivered a pinch-hit single in the seventh to push the lead to five. Brad Brach (1-0) pitched 1 1/3 hitless innings after starter Tyson Ross allowed one run and six hits in 4 2/3 innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: San Diego 3B Chase Headley (thumb) was activated prior to the game and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in his season debut. OF Cameron Maybin (wrist) was placed on the disabled list to make room for Headley. … Slumping Dodgers CF Matt Kemp was held out of the starting lineup and entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh. He batted with the bases loaded twice - striking out in the seventh and hitting a sacrifice fly in the ninth. … Los Angeles INF/OF Jerry Hairston Jr. dropped his appeal stemming from the recent benches-clearing brawl with the Padres and served his one-game suspension Wednesday.
