Red Sox 5, Twins 1: John Lackey took a perfect game into the fifth inning and Will Middlebrooks and Dustin Pedroia homered as visiting Boston sat through a three-hour, one-minute rain delay in the seventh and completed a three-game sweep of Minnesota.

Lackey (2-4) ended up allowing one hit and an unearned run while striking out five in six innings to snap a three-start losing streak. Pedroia's two-run homer in the ninth glanced off left fielder Josh Willingham’s glove to seal the Red Sox's fifth straight win.

Pedro Hernandez (2-1) was reached for three runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings for the Twins. Trevor Plouffe recorded the lone hit off Lackey, breaking up the perfect game with a double into the left-field corner leading off the fifth.

Middlebrooks gave Boston the lead with an opposite-field blast over the high wall in right-center in the second inning. Pedroia grounded into a fielder’s choice and got credit for an RBI in the third and Mike Napoli made it a 3-0 gap in the fifth when his single scored Pedroia.

Shortstop Pedro Ciriaco’s throwing error allowed the Twins’ lone run to score in the fifth. Minnesota loaded the bases in the eighth but could not push across a run as Koji Uehara struck out Joe Mauer to end the inning.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mauer went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts to snap his 15-game hitting streak. … Pedroia went 2-for-5 with three RBIs to extend his hitting streak to 11 straight. … The Red Sox continue their road trip against the Chicago White Sox on Monday while the Twins kick off a nine-game road trip at Atlanta.
