Red Sox 9, Rays 2: Stephen Drew capped an eight-run rally in the third inning with a grand slam as visiting Boston jumped on David Price and snapped a three-game slide.

Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz, Mike Napoli and Jonny Gomes each drove in a run and scored during the uprising and Jon Lester (6-0) worked seven strong innings for the Red Sox, who won for the third time in the last 12 games.

Price (1-4) left in the third with tightness in his left triceps and was charged with four runs and five hits in 2 1/3 innings. Desmond Jennings recorded two hits, an RBI and a run scored as the Rays had a six-game winning streak come to an end.

Price walked Drew to begin the third and allowed singles to Jacoby Ellsbury, Pedroia and Ortiz before yielding to Jamey Wright. Napoli and Gomes greeted Wright with RBI hits and Jarrod Saltalamacchia drew a two-out walk in front of Drew, who lifted a 1-1 cutter into the front row in right-center for his second career grand slam.

Tampa Bay got two runs back in the bottom of the frame when Jennings delivered an RBI triple and scored on Ben Zobrist’s groundout. Lester took care of the rest, allowing two runs and eight hits to remain undefeated.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Will Middlebrooks added a solo home run for Boston. It was his first homer since April 26 against Houston. … Pedroia went 2-for-5 for his sixth multi-hit game in the last seven contests. The stretch has raised his average from .299 to .340. … Rays 3B Evan Longoria singled in the eighth to extend his hitting streak to nine games. He has reached base safely in 38 of 39 games this season.
