Diamondbacks 7, Rays 0: Eric Chavez belted a two-run homer for the second straight night and Wade Miley pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings as visiting Arizona earned a split of the two-game interleague series.

Chavez also had an RBI single while Cody Ross went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and Paul Goldschmidt 2-for-3 with a homer and three runs scored for the Diamondbacks. Miley (8-8) allowed two hits, walked five and matched his season high with eight strikeouts to win for the fourth time in five decisions during July.

Wil Myers went 1-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to 12 games, the longest for a Tampa Bay rookie since Aki Iwamura’s 12-game run in 2007. Rays starter Jeremy Hellickson (10-4) yielded four runs and seven hits over 4 1/3 innings, losing for the first time in his last seven decisions.

The Diamondbacks loaded the bases in the first inning before Ross lined a two-run single to left field with two outs to give Arizona a 2-0 lead. Goldschmidt walked with one out in the third and trotted home when Chavez drilled a 2-2 pitch from Hellickson just inside the right-field foul pole to make it 4-0.

Martin Prado and Goldschmidt opened the seventh with singles before Chavez delivered a run-scoring base hit up the middle for a 5-0 advantage. The Rays loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Heath Bell came on to strike out Desmond Jennings and Evan Longoria to end the threat.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tampa Bay LHP Matt Moore (14-3) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a sore left elbow. Rays manager Joe Maddon said he is not too concerned and Moore should be back by mid-August. … RHP Ian Kennedy, who started in Arizona's 5-2 loss at Tampa Bay on Tuesday, was traded to the San Diego Padres for LHP Joe Thatcher, minor-league RHP Matt Stites and a draft pick. Thatcher is expected to meet the team in Texas on Thursday. … The Rays visit Arizona for a two-game set Aug.6-7.
