Rockies 8, Dodgers 5: Jason Giambi drilled a pinch-hit, three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth as host Colorado scored three runs in each of the final two innings to take the rubber game against Los Angeles.

Carlos Gonzalez also homered twice and drove in three runs to help the Rockies reach the .500 mark (12-12) after both teams failed to protect leads in the last two innings.

Giambi's blast, his first homer and fourth hit of the season, came off Scott Elbert and made a loser of Jamey Wright (1-1).

Rockies closer Rafael Betancourt (1-0) picked up the victory despite surrendering a two-out, two-run tying double to Dee Gordon in the top of the ninth inning to tie it at 5-5.

Wilin Rosario also homered off Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, who gave up a career-high three round-trippers and was denied in his bid for an 11th consecutive victory.

Jerry Hairston Jr. had a two-run double in the eighth to put the Dodgers ahead 3-2, but Gonzalez's second homer off Kershaw capped a three-run eighth and gave Colorado a 5-3 lead.

It was the sixth and seventh homers in the past nine games for Gonzalez, who has gone deep six times and driven in 14 runs during a six-game hitting streak.

Rockies rookie Drew Pomeranz pitched 6 2/3 strong innings, limiting the Dodgers to one run on four hits. Kershaw was charged with five runs on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kershaw was attempting to become the first Dodger pitcher to win 11 straight decisions since Orel Hershiser in 1985. He hasn't lost since Aug. 7, 2011. Betancourt had allowed only run in his first 10 appearances. ... Gonzalez has 11 homers in 40 career games against Los Angeles. He has four multi-hit games in his six-game hitting streak. ... Dodgers IF Juan Uribe could be headed to the disabled list after re-injuring his left wrist in batting practice Tuesday. ... The Dodgers formally introduced the team's new ownership group Wednesday, which includes former Los Angeles Lakers star Magic Johnson and club president and CEO Stan Kasten.
