Brewers 7, Pirates 0: Carlos Gomez launched a three-run homer, pushing Milwaukee to a series win in Pittsburgh and its fifth victory in six games.

One night after his dropped fly ball led to four unearned runs in a loss to the Pirates, Gomez made amends. His three-run homer to left off Pirates starter Erik Bedard (7-14) gave the Brewers a 3-0 advantage in the fourth. Aramis Ramirez added a two-run homer in the fifth.

Milwaukee starter Mark Rogers (2-1) won his second consecutive start, pitching five shutout innings with three hits allowed, three walks and five strikeouts. Bedard lost his second start in a row, surrendering six runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Corey Hart and Jonathan Lucroy singled with two outs in the fourth, setting up Gomez’s 13th homer. Rogers doubled leading off the fifth and later scored on Rickie Weeks’ one-out single. With two outs, Ramirez hit his 18th homer to center as Milwaukee took a 6-0 lead.

Lucroy finished 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored and Hart added two hits as the Brewers improved to 7-3 in their past 10 games.

Josh Harrison recorded two hits for Pittsburgh, which has lost five of its past six.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gomez stole two bases. … Rogers is hitting .363 (4-for-11) this season with two doubles. … Bedard has lost seven of his past 10 starts. … Pittsburgh activated LHP Hisanori Takahashi and placed RHP Chad Qualls on the DL with irritation in his left big toe. Takahashi pitched a perfect eighth inning. … The Brewers head to Chicago to play the Cubs in a four-game series beginning Monday. The Pirates host St. Louis in a critical three-game series in the NL wild card race, starting Monday.
