Wilson Ramos hit a walk-off home run to cap a five-run rally in the ninth inning and lift the host Washington Nationals to a 6-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.

Jerry Hairston Jr. and Danny Espinosa each added RBI singles in the ninth for the Nationals, who have won nine of 10.

After eight innings of one-run baseball and 99 pitches from righthander Doug Fister, the Mariners elected to turn it over to the bullpen in the ninth. Brandon League proved ineffective, walking one and allowing two hits before being replaced by David Pauley after suffering a foot injury.

Pauley (4-1) allowed an RBI single to Espinosa and then left one up to Ramos, who bashed his sixth homer into the seats in left-center for a three-run blast.

Todd Coffey (3-0) pitched a scoreless inning to get credit for the win.

Fister, who entered riding a three-start losing streak, allowed a single to Jayson Werth leading off the game and then retired 10 straight as he settled into a groove. The righthander struck out three and surrendered three hits while also helping himself out with an RBI single in the fourth.
