Prince Fielder added his 11th home run and Ryan Braun extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a ground-rule double in the fifth for the Brewers, who won their seventh consecutive home game and 11th win in 14 games overall. Milwaukee is a NL-best 17-6 at home.

Gallardo (6-2) won his fourth consecutive start, striking out nine and allowing just one run on five hits over seven innings. He has a 1.67 ERA over his past four starts.

The lone run against Gallardo came on Michael Morse's third home run. Washington has scored seven runs in its past five losses.

Nationals starter Tom Gorzelanny (2-4) allowed six runs on eight hits over five innings to take the loss for Washington, which has lost eight of 11.

The Brewers scored five runs in the eighth against Drew Storen, snapping his streak of scoreless innings at 21. Storen had not allowed a run since April 5 and hadn't given up an earned run since April 2.
