CC Sabathia was perfect for 6 1/3 innings en route to becoming baseball's first 15-game winner and the host New York Yankees extended the Seattle Mariners' losing streak to 17 games with a 4-1 victory Tuesday night.

Sabathia (15-5) struck out a career-high 14 batters, including seven in a row at one point, to win his seventh straight start against Seattle.

Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira each hit solo home runs to remain tied for the team lead with 28.

Sabathia lost his perfect game and no-hitter on Brendan Ryan's one-out single in the seventh. He left after walking the bases loaded with no out in the eighth.

Mariano Rivera worked the ninth for his 26th save of the season and 585th career.

Mariners starter Doug Fister (3-12) allowed three runs on seven hits in seven innings to lose his seventh straight decision and remain winless since May 30.

Yankees third baseman Eric Chavez, playing in his first game since suffering a fractured foot on May 5, had an RBI single, and Derek Jeter added a run-scoring groundout in the fifth to make it 3-0.
