Chris Carpenter was brilliant for 7 1/3 innings and Randy Winn homered as the St. Louis Cardinals ended a five-game slide with a 5-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday.

Pedro Feliz drove in a pair of runs for the Cardinals, who beat Giants ace Tim Lincecum for the first time in six tries and extended his career-worst losing streak to four starts. Feliz now has four hits in two games since being acquired by St. Louis earlier in the week.

Carpenter (14-4) prevailed in a matchup of former Cy Young Award winners by limiting the Giants to one run and five hits while striking out four and walking two.

The right-hander outdueled Lincecum (11-8), the reigning two-time Cy Young winner who entered 5-0 with a 1.54 ERA against St. Louis.

The two aces matched zeros before Winn, a former Giant, belted a solo shot to right in the fourth to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. It was the first run allowed by Lincecum in 19 innings at Busch Stadium.

Feliz, another former Giant acquired from Houston on Thursday, made it 2-0 with an RBI triple in the fifth. Brendan Ryan followed with a run-scoring double to make it a three-run game, and Jon Jay's RBI single off Lincecum in the sixth gave St.Louis a 4-0 lead.

Lincecum allowed four runs, three earned, and six hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Guillen's RBI single in the eight cut the lead to 4-1, but Feliz restored the four-run lead with an RBI single in the bottom half of the frame and Ryan Franklin finished off the Giants in the ninth.
