Albert Pujols hit his NL-best 33rd home run and Yadier Molina had three hits and two RBIs to power the St. Louis Cardinals to a 10-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.
Pirates starter Ross Ohlendorf (1-11) faced only two batters before leaving with an apparent right shoulder injury. The 28-year-old right-hander walked Skip Schumaker and allowed a single to Jon Jay before giving way to Sean Gallagher, whom Pujols greeted with a three-run shot to center.
Molina capped the four-run first with an RBI single and added an RBI double in the three-run fifth. Matt Holliday had two hits and an RBI, and Felipe Lopez, Brendan Ryan, Bryan Anderson and Jay added RBIs for St. Louis, which has won three straight.
Both Pittsburgh runs came on Garrett Jones' 18th homer, a shot to right off Cardinals starter Kyle Lohse in the sixth inning.
Making his second start since coming off the disabled list, Lohse (2-5) allowed two runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings to earn his first win since May 17.
