Cole Hamels struck out a season-high 13 batters to secure his fourth straight win and Shane Victorino scored twice as the Philadelphia Phillies recorded a 2-1 triumph over the Florida Marlins on Tuesday.

Placido Polanco belted an RBI double in the first inning and Victorino scored the eventual winning run in the fifth on Jayson Werth's groundout.

As a result, Philadelphia (85-61) posted its 15th win in its last 19 contests to extend its lead in the NL East to two games over the Atlanta Braves (83-63). The Washington Nationals cruised to a 6-0 triumph over the Braves on Tuesday.

Hamels (11-10) struck out the side in both the fourth and sixth innings to keep the Marlins (73-71) at bay. The 2008 World Series MVP finished two strikeouts shy of his career high, which he set in a 4-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds on April 21, 2007.

Hamels did see his career-best 25 consecutive scoreless innings streak come to an end after Dan Uggla's RBI single in the first inning. The hurler allowed one run and five hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Chad Durbin finished the seventh inning, Ryan Madson worked a scoreless eighth and Brad Lidge retired the side in order for his 22nd save of the season.

Adalberto Mendez (1-1) permitted two runs and four hits in 4 1/3 innings to take the loss in this one.
