Chris Iannetta’s homer in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Colorado Rockies their second come-from-behind victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in as many nights with Wednesday’s 8-7 triumph.
A day after scoring nine runs in their final at-bats to stun the Cardinals, the Rockies plated four runs in the final two frames for their third straight win.
Dexter Fowler belted a three-run homer in the eighth that evened things up before Iannetta ended it an inning later with his sixth blast of the season off Evan MacLane (0-1).
Jonathan Herrera, Carlos Gonzalez and Brad Eldred each had three hits apiece in Colorado’s 15-hit attack.
Huston Street (1-1) earned the win with one perfect inning of relief.
Matt Holliday had a pair of home runs among four hits while scoring four times and John Jay had three hits and drove in a pair for St. Louis, which grabbed a 5-0 lead through five.
Ian Stewart drove in two runs with a single in the fifth and later got the Rockies within 6-4 with another run-producing base hit.
Holliday then pushed the cushion to three runs with his 14th homer of the campaign prior to the late heroics.
