Matt Cain dominated through all nine innings and Juan Uribe homered as the San Francisco Giants shut out the Cincinnati Reds 3-0 on Tuesday.

Bengie Molina added an RBI single and Pat Burrell had two hits for the Giants, who have won five of six to move seven games over .500 at 32-25.

Cain allowed seven hits and issued two walks while striking out five in his second shutout of the season. The 25-year-old improved to 5-4 while lowering his ERA to 2.11.

Cain is no stranger to poor run support, with Tuesday marking the seventh time in 12 starts this season that San Francisco has managed four runs or fewer for the right-hander. But lately Cain has decided that he’ll take matters into his own hands, allowing a total of one earned run in 35 innings over his last four starts, including Tuesday’s outing.

Uribe gave Cain all the support he would need in the fourth when he reached rookie right-hander Sam LeCure (1-2) for a solo homer - his ninth of the season.

Uribe has been on a tear lately, driving in nine runs in the past five games.

The Giants added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth on Molina’s single and Cain’s second hit of the night, an RBI single to center.
