Daniel Hudson pitched seven strong innings and Stephen Drew went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Arizona Diamondbacks halted a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 triumph over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.

Miguel Montero and Kelly Johnson each drove in a run for the Diamondbacks, who went 5-4 on their nine-game homestand.

Hudson (5-1) allowed just one run and five hits to improve to 2-0 with a 1.67 ERA over his last four starts. The 23-year-old, who walked two and struck out three, has won four of his last five decisions.

Esmerling Vasquez tossed a scoreless eighth and Juan Gutierrez worked around a leadoff double by Jose Guillen in the ninth for his eighth save in 10 opportunities.

San Francisco, which had won four in a row overall and six straight at Chase Field, grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Freddy Sanchez's one-out solo home run - his second blast in as many games.

The Diamondbacks pulled even in the second on Montero's RBI double and forged ahead an inning later on an RBI single by Johnson that scored Drew, who opened the frame with a triple.

Arizona added an insurance run in the seventh as Montero drew a leadoff walk against Jeremy Affeldt and scored three batters later on Drew's base hit.

Barry Zito (8-12) suffered his eighth straight loss despite yielding just two runs and four hits over six innings. The former Cy Young Award winner, who fell to 3-8 lifetime against Arizona, walked three and struck out seven.

Guillen and Aubrey Huff had two hits apiece for the Giants, who fell two games behind the Atlanta Braves in the wild-card race.
