Jody Gerut became the sixth player in franchise history to hit for the cycle as the Milwaukee Brewers routed the host Arizona Diamondbacks 17-3 on Saturday.

Gerut completed the cycle with a two-run double in the ninth inning. He homered in the second, singled in the third and had a run-scoring triple in the fifth.

Gerut and Ryan Braun each drove in four runs as Milwaukee beat Arizona for the second straight game. Braun capped a six-run fifth inning with a three-run homer that gave the Brewers an 11-2 lead.

Casey McGehee and Rickie Weeks added three hits apiece for the Brewers, who had 17 hits.

The Brewers trailed 2-0 before Gerut homered in the second inning. Milwaukee scored four times in the third before blowing the game open in the fifth.

Randy Wolf (3-2) recorded the victory, giving up three runs and six hits in six innings.

Mark Reynolds hit his 10th homer of the season in the sixth for the Diamondbacks.

Arizona’s Cesar Valdez (1-1) allowed seven runs – six earned – and nine hits in his second major-league start.
