Jason Michaels had a pair of hits and drove in three runs for the Astros, who snapped a four-game losing streak.

The game was delayed at the start by rain for one hour, 25 minutes.

Oswalt (5-8) allowed two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out seven. He bounced back nicely after allowing three hits in the first inning, including a leadoff triple by Scott Podsednik.

Brandon Lyon pitched a scoreless eighth and closer Matt Lindstrom finished up for his 15th save and first since June 8.

Kansas City starter Bruce Chen (3-1) went 5 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on five hits. He fanned six and walked three.
