Carl Pavano was solid over eight innings and Delmon Young homered as the Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 6-2 Wednesday night for their fourth win in five games.

Pavano (6-6), who was rocked for seven runs in his previous outing against the Royals, limited the Kansas City offense to a pair of runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out one.

Young belted his seventh home run of the season over the left-field wall to open the scoring in the second inning. The former first-overall pick now has eight RBIs in his past five games.

Every Minnesota starter reached base in the victory and second baseman Matt Tolbert was the only man in the lineup to go without a hit. Joe Mauer finished 2-for-4 with a run-scoring double and Jason Kubel added two hits and a run scored.

Kyle Davies (4-5) was victimized for five runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. He walked five and struck out one to lose for the third time in his past four starts.

The Royals scored both their runs in the top of the third inning on a Jason Kendall sacrifice fly and a Billy Butler RBI single.
