Jake Westbrook pitched into the eighth inning and the Cleveland Indians received homers from Shin-Soo Choo and Russell Branyan in a 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.

Choo broke an 0-for-17 slide with a solo homer in the sixth. It followed Branyan’s solo blast in the fifth off Jeremy Bonderman, who pitched well enough to win but was again let down by his offense.

Bonderman (2-3) allowed three runs in eight innings, but still has just one win since April 10. Bonderman is 1-2 over his last five starts despite a 1.85 ERA. The Tigers have lost eight of 10 and have totalled 19 runs in the eight losses.

Westbrook (3-3) limited the Tigers to one run before being removed with two on and two out in the eighth.

Kerry Wood survived a shaky ninth for his third save, all within the last eight days. Wood allowed a run in the ninth and the Tigers had the tying run at third when Wood got Ramon Santiago to fly out to end the game.

Wood has allowed at least one run in four of his last six appearances and has a 9.72 ERA, but hasn’t blown a save since allowing five runs to Kansas City on May 19.
