Daniel Nava belted a grand slam in his first major-league at-bat as the Boston Red Sox recorded 16 hits and cruised to a 10-2 triumph over the reeling Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.

Called up from Triple-A Pawtucket prior to the contest, the 27-year-old Nava deposited the first pitch he saw from right-hander Joe Blanton over the right-field fence in the second inning.

J.D. Drew blasted a solo home run and had an RBI single, Marco Scutaro had a two-run single and Dustin Pedroia added an RBI single for Boston (37-27), which scored eight runs in the first three innings Saturday.

On Friday, the Red Sox plated 12 runs in the first three frames en route to a 12-2 rout of the Phillies.

After 34-year-old reliever Scott Atchison made his first career start with Daisuke Matsuzaka being placed on the 15-day disabled list, Manny Delcarmen (2-2) allowed no runs and one hit in two innings to pick up the win.

Brian Schneider slapped a two-run double for Philadelphia (31-29), which fell for the 16th time in its last 23 games.

Blanton (1-5) allowed nine runs and 13 hits in four innings to take the loss.
